The 2007-2008 Prattville High School Spotlight is an auditioned group of 33 members. Since its inception in 1998, the group has consistently received superior ratings at the Alabama National Fair Invitational Choral Festival,  and placed 3rd runner up at the Southern Showcase in Opelika and the Enterprise Invitational Show Choir Competition in Enterprise, Al. They have also performed at the Walt Disney World Invitational Show Choir Competition in Orlando, Fl.

The group performs for many local organizations such as the Rotary Club of Prattville, the State of Alabama YMCA Board and the Alabama National Guard.  They have performed on the stage of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival for the River Region United Way Kickoff Gala and at a dinner for Senator Wendell Mitchell.  Members have also participated in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Hawaii Music Festival.  In the spring of 2008, the group is slated to perform at the Show Choir Nationals which will be held in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry.

Past Spotlight members have continued their show choir careers in college, and some are pursuing degrees in music.

Spotlight is under the direction of Prattville native, Mr. Michael Wilson; currently in his sixth year at Prattville High School.  Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Prattville High School and received his degree in Music Education from Huntingdon College.  Before becoming the high school choral director, Mr. Wilson was the music teacher at Daniel Pratt Elementary School.  Mr. Wilson is also very active at First Baptist Church here in Prattville.

This year’s show is being choreographed by Kristen Ruby, a former member of Spotlight and a 2006 graduate of Prattville High School.  Kristen is currently attending Auburn University.   This year’s competition showcases hits from the 1980’s and 90's include such songs as Grand Illusion and Rockin the Paradise by Styx, Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler, Standing Outside the Fire by Garth Brooks, It's Alright by Huey Lewis and  Mockingbird by Toby Keith with daughter Krystal.
